The Cinderwood Story

Our Journey

Ah, my friends, let me tell you a tale of necessity and innovation—one that even the finest scotch would raise a toast to. Cinderwood emerged not from mere whimsy, but from the depths of need itself. The 601 building of Union Campus, a sanctuary for the ambitious, the ingenious, and the ever-so-creative, was conceived long before the world hit pause.

Picture this: construction commenced in 2019, and anticipation soared as eager tenants nearly filled every corner before the first shovel broke ground. Yet, as fate would have it, the winds of change left the 4th floor lingering in an unfinished limbo, untouched and unoccupied for two long years after the rest of this magnificent structure rose to life.

Then, like a spark in the night, a brave tenant approached the building management. “Might we transform that elusive 4th floor into a grand hub for our two-day gathering of 200 spirited souls?” they proposed, envisioning a space alive with collaboration, while the conference rooms throughout the campus would serve as the backdrop for breakouts and feasts alike.

And so, from the ashes of uncertainty, Cinderwood was born—a beacon for those who dare to gather and create.

And just like that, a new haven for business meetings, non-profits, and mini-conventions sprang to life. In the aftermath of that pivotal event, the visionary minds of the building's ownership and management converged, giving birth to Cinderwood—a story waiting to unfold.

It was a dance of construction, a year of ‘build, conceal the materials for events, and continue the craft,’ a symphony of ambition. Then, in the crisp November air of 2023, Cinderwood threw open its doors, stepping into the spotlight as Indianapolis’s latest gem of an event venue.

In its brief existence, Cinderwood has played host to holiday soirées, all-employee gatherings, leadership retreats, NBA All-Star game festivities, fundraisers, and sumptuous dinners. The question that now hangs in the air, like the finest cigar smoke, is this: what chapter will you write in the storied history of Cinderwood? Embrace the moment, my friends. The stage is set.

OUR FOUNDERS

Kristen & Jeremy Baynai

Meet Kristen, a true Hoosier at heart, hailing from the vibrant Southside of Indianapolis. A graduate of Southport High School, she further honed her intellect at Ball State University, earning her M.A. with pride. When she’s not passionately cheering on the Colts, you’ll find her savoring the sunset with a glass of wine on her front porch—her personal oasis.

In the golden year of 2012, Kristen and Jeremy exchanged vows in a breathtaking ceremony on Siesta Key Beach, Florida, sealing their love against the backdrop of crashing waves. Since then, their journey has been graced with the laughter of two delightful children.

The Baynais are champions of organization; legend has it that, at the age of 8, Jeremy once meticulously sorted his Halloween candy in a tackle box! This dynamic duo possesses an extraordinary talent for transforming chaos into harmony and turning mere acquaintances into lifelong family. So raise your glass, my friends, to a couple whose love story is as organized and captivating as their lives!
